Manchester United are out of the race for European spots in the Premier League, out of the Carabao Cup, and out of the FA Cup after the loss to Fulham. All that remains for silverware and a chance at Europe next season is the Europa League.
The knockout rounds for the Reds start with a trip to San Sebastian on Thursday to face Real Sociedad. Who will Amorim have available, and who will start for United?
Team News
Patrick Dorgu is available against Real Sociedad, as his remaining two-match suspension is for domestic matches. The Dane was added to Amorim’s Europa League squad along with Ayden Heaven, while Chido Obi was left off and will play no part in the potential run.
Harry Maguire will not be available on Thursday after picking up a knock against Fulham. Victor Lindelof or Ayden Heaven, who made his debut on Sunday, could step into the starting eleven to replace the in-form defender.
The academy prospects on the Europa League list include Harry Amass, Louis Jackson, Habeeb Ogunneye, Jack Fletcher, and Jayce Fitzgerald. While a few should make the matchday squad, none are expected to debut on Thursday.
The injured list remains long, with Amad, Lisandro Martinez, Kobbie Mainoo, Jonny Evans, and Mason Mount out with long-term injuries. Tom Heaton, Altay Bayindir, Toby Collyer, and Luke Shaw also remain out.
Predicted Lineup
Goalkeeper: Andre Onana
Defenders: Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt, Ayden Heaven
Midfielders: Patrick Dorgu, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot
Attackers: Alejandro Garnacho, Joshua Zirkzee, Rasmus Hojlund
