Antony’s six-month loan to Real Betis could be made permanent this summer.

Manchester United loaned Antony to Real Betis this January after his difficult time at the club continued. The 24-year-old remained an afterthought when Ruben Amorim took over and needed a new start away from Old Trafford.

In two starts for the Seville club, Antony has impressed, scoring once and creating a big chance. His goal against Celta Vigo has already matched his total at United this season.

Real Betis Chief Alarcon replied, “I think so,” when asked if Antony’s deal could be made permanent this summer by Cadena Ser’s Radio Sevilla.

“The other day the CEO of United called me. We sent them all the moves and details of the player throughout the week so that they can see that we are looking after their asset,” he continued.

“There is very good chemistry with Manchester [United] and with the player. It is a possibility that he will continue next season, why not?”

Ruben Amorim’s plans for the first team do not involve a return for Antony. Therefore, strong performances at Betis could simplify his summer decisions, especially considering that a buy clause was not initially included in the loan deal. While Manchester United will not receive the £80 million plus that was initially spent on the Brazilian, any amount received will be beneficial as Amorim seeks to revamp his team, particularly in the attack.

Real Betis currently sits 11th in La Liga, six points away from the European places.
