For most of the 2024-2025 season, Manchester United has been without a naturally left-footed player at left-back and left wing-back. The struggles at the position have left the club searching for an addition in January, with Milos Kerkez and Patrick Dorgu as two of the likeliest options. Both young players have talent and could be stars in the future, but there is a specific reason that Manchester United should sign Kerkez.

The biggest difference between Dorgu and Kerkez is experience in the Premier League. Kerkez has it, and Dorgu does not. Manchester United needs a player who not only can fill a need but can improve the team as a whole. While Dorgu has immense talent, young players moving to the Premier League often need time to adapt, which means a move for the 20-year-old would likely leave the Reds no better off in the second half of the season.

Meanwhile, Milos Kerkez has been lighting up the Premier League in a team that is one of the surprises of the season. Bournemouth sit 7th in the Premier League table and have a clear opportunity to challenge for the European places. The Hungarian left-back has scored two goals and assisted three, playing in every league match this season.

At 21, Kerkez has already played 50 matches in the Premier League, giving him an important advantage over Patrick Dorgu, who plays in Serie A, and demonstrating that he can make an immediate impact for any club.

Liverpool are also tracking the young star and could rival United for his signature as they look for an Andrew Robertson replacement.

Even if Manchester United postpones a move until the summer, Milos Kerkez’s Premier League experience sets him apart from the other long-term left wing-back options on the market.
