Manchester United host Rangers on Matchday 7 of the Europa League on the back of three straight wins in the competition. As performances continue to underwhelm, who will Ruben Amorim select to face the Scottish Premiership runners-up?
Team News
Manchester United will be without Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount, and Jonny Evans against Rangers due to injury.
Andre Onana will likely remain in goal despite a high-profile mistake against Brighton that ended United’s comeback hopes. A switch to Altay Bayindir, who has been the team’s domestic cup goalkeeper, would be a statement from Ruben Amorim that he does not trust Onana to be the club’s number one.
Lisandro Martinez was rested over the weekend and is expected to return to the starting eleven, hopefully revitalizing a backline that performed poorly against the Seagulls.
Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte have struggled in recent matches in the midfield, while Toby Collyer has had a positive influence off the bench. The 21-year-old could get his first start of the season against a Rangers team that United should be able to overwhelm.
Rasmus Hojlund was pivotal in Manchester United’s victory over Viktoria Plzen in December and is likely to start on Thursday; however, Amorim may decide to bring him off the bench as he did in that match.
Lineup Prediction
Goalkeeper: Andre Onana
Defenders: Matthijs De Ligt, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez
Midfielders: Amad Diallo, Manuel Ugarte, Toby Collyer, Diogo Dalot
Attackers: Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund
