Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool demonstrated that the team has the potential to turn this season around. Delivering another strong performance away against a top Premier League side like Arsenal, even in a cup match, could significantly boost the confidence necessary for a successful second half of the season.

Team News

Ahead of the match against Liverpool last weekend, Ruben Amorim provided a positive update on Victor Lindelof and Luke Shaw.

“Vic is almost there and Luke also. But they are out [vs Liverpool].”

Both players have had an additional week to heal since the draw at Anfield and could play a role in the FA Cup tie. However, neither player is likely to start and will be on the bench, if available at all.

The other injured Red, Mason Mount, will not return to Amorim’s squad until at least February as he recovers from a thigh injury.

Amid transfer talks with clubs abroad, Marcus Rashford is unlikely to return to the matchday squad. The 27-year-old has not featured since Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League in early December, and his next appearance will come at another club.

Casemiro is another player to watch, as a move to Saudi Arabia could be finalized in the coming week. An absence from the 32-year-old might indicate that an exit is imminent.
