There are growing rumors about Joshua Zirkzee’s potential departure from Manchester United. The 23-year-old has struggled to make an impact this season since his transfer for €42.5 million and is reportedly keen on returning to Italy. According to Il Mattino, Manchester United may consider using Zirkzee as part of a deal to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.

United’s goalscoring issues have continued from last year, primarily due to the strikers. Rasmus Hojlund and Zirkzee have netted only three goals in all competitions, which is far below the Reds’ offensive needs.

The newest name on United’s shortlist is Victor Osimhen. While the focus has been given to Viktor Gyorkeres as Amorim’s Sporting striker, Osimhen could be signed as early as January, providing immediate relief to a floundering attack.

United was linked with Osimhen over the summer before the 25-year-old moved on loan to Galatasaray.

A swap deal would still require up to €30 million from Manchester United in addition to Zirkzee. While a striker is important, United may still prioritize a left-back in this window with limited funds.

Should Manchester United move for Victor Osimhen in January or assess the strikers in the summer?
