Manchester United are set to compete with Manchester City and Barcelona for the signing of promising young Croatian midfielder Martin Baturina. The highly rated 21-year-old is ready to take the next step in his career after several seasons in the Croatian top flight with Dinamo Zagreb.
Baturina already has 137 career first-team appearances, contributing 18 goals and 34 assists. He made his full Croatia debut last November and has a goal in seven appearances.
The young Croatian can play in multiple midfield positions, making his acquisition even more enticing for a midfield that continues to be injury-ridden. Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Mason Mount have all missed time due to various injuries.
Signing Martin Baturina would follow the INEOS initiative of signing the best and brightest early instead of paying more when they are older. This past summer, United signed Leny Yoro over Real Madrid and added Chido Obi-Martin and Sekou Kone to a strong academy. Another name that Manchester United is pursuing in this age range is Chris Rigg.
Martin Baturina would be another good, young signing for Manchester United, adding to a wealth of talent that can lead United back to the top in the years to come.
