The signing of Ruben Amorim has left everyone wondering who he might bring with him to Old Trafford. Amorim has already said he won’t pursue any Sporting players in January, but he has a shortlist of players he wants United to pursue. One of the latest reported names on that list is Geovany Quenda.
According to A Bola, Manchester United has scouted the young star and wants him to replace Antony, who is likely to leave next summer.
Quenda made history as Sporting’s youngest-ever goalscorer by netting a goal on his debut in August, surpassing United legend Cristiano Ronaldo. The 17-year-old has already played ten league matches, scoring once and providing one assist while playing in a right wing-back position.
Negotiating for Quenda will be challenging. The Portuguese international signed a new contract in September that is valid until 2027 and includes a €100 million release clause, which gives Sporting significant leverage in any transfer discussions. While he has clear talent, it is unlikely that any club will pay such a high release clause for a player who has just completed his first full season.
Manchester United is not the only club interested, despite having an advantage with Amorim. Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea have all scouted Quenda and could consider a summer move, complicating negotiations for the talented youngster.
