Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes Fenerbahçe would have claimed all three points if not for Andre Onana.
In the 36th minute, the Cameroonian goalkeeper saved two fantastic efforts from Youssef En-Nesyri. The first save required Onana to dive and parry the ball away. After the initial stop, Dusan Tadic provided En Nesyri with another opportunity, but again, the United keeper kept him out, this time with an outstretched glove.
Mourinho praised Onana for the saves saying, “He saved the result. My goalkeeper didn’t make a save. He made two impossible saves in 10 seconds. I think the most decisive player in the result. He didn’t make 20 saves, but he made two saves. Incredible. Onana can do it.”
Jose Mourinho was seen in utter disbelief after the frantic action that saw his side remain a goal down.
Eventually, the Turkish side did level through En Nesyri, and the match finished 1-1 for a third consecutive United draw in Europe.
After the draw, Manchester United sit 21st in the Europa League standings, five places off a knockout round spot.
