Manchester United will allow Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United contract to end after this season, according to ESPN. The thirteen-time Premier League winner has been a club ambassador since 2013 when he stepped down from his managerial role.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been cutting costs throughout the club. Earlier this year, 250 jobs were cut and deemed “redundant” in a move that saved the club nearly $60 million. This decision with Ferguson is the latest in an effort to improve United’s financial standing.

Since he retired from management, Ferguson has watched manager after manager try and fail to replicate his success at Old Trafford. Erik Ten Hag is dangerously close to becoming the next man to see his United career end in front of the legendary manager.

Sir Alex Ferguson will always be a legendary figure when in the stands and “will always be welcome at Old Trafford,” according to the club.

Hopefully, Ferguson will see success return to Old Trafford shortly, just not while holding an official role for the club.
