Thanks to Harry Maguire, Manchester United escaped Portugal with a second Europa League point. How did the rest of United’s players fare in the rollercoaster 3-3 draw?

Starting Eleven

Andre Onana: 5 – Andre Onana made five saves, but he conceded three. Could he have done more on Porto’s first goal to get the ball out of the danger area?

Noussair Mazraoui: 6 – Mazraoui was solid defensively and contributed with four clearances, primarily on crosses. He performed well despite the center-back play beside him.

Matthijs De Ligt: 3 – De Ligt was beaten to the ball twice by Omorodion for two of Porto’s goals. This performance was reminiscent of his time in the Netherlands during the last international window.

Lisandro Martinez: 4 – Martinez’s positioning was poor and he struggled to track runners. His partnership with De Ligt may be in jeopardy after both players struggled.

Diogo Dalot: 5 – Pepe caused him trouble, and he did not add much to the attack.

Casemiro: 4 – Casemiro is simply too slow and lacks the necessary endurance for a top-level midfielder. He failed to protect the back line and left gaps in transition.

Christian Eriksen: 8 – Eriksen’s two assists show why he has been United’s best creator this season. His ball into Maguire was perfect for the leveler. He deserves a chance as the attacking midfielder.

Bruno Fernandes: 3 – Fernandes failed to impact the match and was sent off again. While the red was unfortunate, the performance was horrible. Christian Eriksen should start as the number ten against Villa.

Amad Diallo: 5 – Amad completed all of his passes, but failed to get a single cross away. When Rasmus Hojlund plays, he needs service. Amad also only got one shot away, which was blocked.

Rasmus Hojlund: 7 – Hojlund scored in his first match starting this season. The Danish forward’s strength and pace allowed him to hold up play and drive dangerously.

Marcus Rashford: 9 – Marcus Rashford continues to become the prominent attacking threat for Manchester United. A goal and an assist in the first half gave the Reds a two-goal lead before Porto leveled. He has regained his confidence and looks a threat every time he touches the ball. He completed all three of his first-half dribbles. Unfortunately, he seems to have picked up a knock as he was substituted at the half.

Substitutes

Alejandro Garnacho: 5 – Garnacho came on and was a threat to Diogo Costa’s goal. However, his inability to connect with teammates in the attack led to wasted opportunities.

Antony: 6 – Antony earned the corner that scored the third for United. While he did not do much else, he at least tried to get the ball into the box and provide for his teammates.

Joshua Zirkzee: 4 – Zirksee came on in the 68th minute and had just seven touches through the rest of the match.

Harry Maguire: 8 – Harry Maguire came on to be an aerial threat and he delivered. His crucial goal earned United a point and he played well defensively.

Jonny Evans: 6 – Evans had eleven touches, completed ten of ten passes, and was fouled once.

Man of the Match: Marcus Rashford
