Could things get any worse for Manchester United right now? In short, yes. According to GIVEMESPORT, if Real Madrid are unable to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold, they could turn to Diogo Dalot.
Dalot transferred from Porto to Manchester United in 2018 for €19 million. Initially, his transfer did not go as planned, as he had minimal playing time and was eventually loaned to AC Milan. However, the Portuguese international has since become recognized as one of the top outside backs in the Premier League and is a regular for Portugal.
The 25-year-old has been a standout in an underperforming Manchester United team. According to Sofascore, he has been the highest-performing player for Erik Ten Hag in the league so far.
Transfermarkt currently values Dalot at €35 million, but with four years remaining on his contract, the right back would likely cost over €50 million.
Diogo Dalot is playing good football in Manchester, but the allure of Real Madrid would likely be enough persuasion. Los Blancos have been far ahead of United for a while now and a player of Dalot’s quality deserves to play at the top.
If the Reds did lose Dalot next summer, Mazraoui would likely move to right back, while a new left back could be brought in to fill the void. In recent months, Manchester United have been linked to United States international Antonee Robinson, who could fill that position with quality.
Should Manchester United allow Diogo Dalot to leave if Real Madrid come knocking?
