A shaky start led to a dominant Manchester United victory. Who were the main contributors to the 3-0 win?
Starting XI
Andre Onana: 8 – Onana claimed two clean sheets for Cameroon over the international break and immediately added another at club level. His penalty save was the moment of the match, as it helped kick the team into gear.
Noussair Mazraoui: 6 – Mazraoui had a quiet day but completed all three of his dribbles and had a shot on target.
Matthijs De Ligt: 9 – What a match from De Ligt, who had a rough international break. He finished his header confidently and was fantastic defensively. He had six total clearances, two tackles, and an interception.
Lisandro Martinez: 6 – Coming off of a superb spell with Argentina, Martinez rebounded after the Liverpool defeat. The defender completed 97% of his passes (58/60) and defended well with four interceptions and two tackles.
Diogo Dalot: 5 – Dalot grabbed a late assist but today was not his day. He was poor in possession and conceded a penalty with a wild tackle. This should be a one-off performance from the normally outstanding outside back.
Kobbie Mainoo: 6 – Mainoo was solid today but picked up his third yellow card of the season, which leaves him just two away from suspension. The 19-year-old had two interceptions and three tackles in the midfield.
Christian Eriksen: 6 – Eriksen returned to the starting lineup and performed well. He is not the most mobile player, but his quality shone through today. The Danish international had two key passes, a big chance created, and a 93% passing accuracy.
Bruno Fernandes: 7 – Bruno provided the opening assist with a great ball in for De Ligt. His yellow card was unnecessary, though.
Amad Diallo: 8 – Amad Diallo was, yet again, the most dangerous player for Manchester United. He assisted Rashford’s goal but also had six, yes SIX, key passes.
Marcus Rashford: 7 – Rashford returned to the scoresheet with a beautiful curled finish into the bottom corner. His hard work over the last couple of weeks paid off. Can this be a platform for a bounce-back season?
Joshua Zirkzee: 5 – Zirkzee had multiple opportunities to get on the scoresheet and failed to do so. He connected play well but needs to be contributing more with goals.
Substitutions
Manuel Ugarte: 6 – United fans got a glimpse of the future when Ugarte came in alongside Mainoo. Will he start next week against Crystal Palace?
Harry Maguire: 6 – Maguire did not have much to do after coming on with the game well in United’s control. He did complete all 25 of his passes but picked up a yellow card.
Alejandro Garnacho: 7 – After a week where he was criticized for liking a Ronaldo post, Garnacho found the back of the net with a well-placed first-time finish.
Jonny Evans: No Rating – Evans intercepted once and made a tackle after coming on for Lisandro Martinez
Casemiro: No Rating – Casemiro came on too late to rate. With Ugarte in the team, Casemiro won’t be starting very often.
Man of the Match: Matthijs De Ligt
