British journalist Piers Morgan has gone after Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United once again.
When asked why Ronaldo left United, Piers said: “Because Ten Hag is a complete idiot. I’m sorry, he is. He has been since he went there, right? He talks in complete gibberish.
“He’s now banging on about Harry Potter or something. Ten Hag is everything Ronaldo told me he was in that interview, which led to him leaving United.
“The biggest problem with Ten Hag, he’s like that bossy little school teacher you get who doesn’t know how to handle supreme academic talent.”
Despite Piers Morgan’s claims that Erik Ten Hag is a ‘complete idiot,’ the Dutch manager has two trophies at Manchester United, including a triumphant FA Cup victory over bitter rivals Manchester City. He also secured the Carabao Cup the year before.
It is clear that Ten Hag has yet to find his footing in the Premier League, but calling a manager who made it to a Champions League Semi-Final with Ajax a ‘complete idiot’ is a pitiful attack on the 54-year-old.
Piers Morgan has avidly believed that Manchester United should have never let Ronaldo leave in 2022. It was, after all, his interview with Ronaldo that led to the Portuguese legend’s contract being terminated.
The truth is, Manchester United was not going to be able to move forward with Ronaldo leading the line. The 39-year-old had a good run in the 2021-2022 season, but his one goal in ten matches the next season was poor.
The signing of Ronaldo should never have happened in the first place. Instead of spending on a young, promising striker, United had yet another stop-gap solution that was not going to lead the club anywhere. The new INEOS staff would have never made that signing.
Cristiano Ronaldo has had a “Greatest of All-Time” career and deserves every plaudit he receives. However, Piers Morgan is horribly wrong in his infatuation with the Erik Ten Hag-Ronaldo debate and his overall view of Erik Ten Hag.
