Manuel Ugarte has officially been announced as a Manchester United player. Ugarte’s contract runs through June 2029, as the Uruguayan is seen as a long-term starter for the Reds.

Manuel Ugarte becomes Manchester United’s fifth signing for the first team. The deal had been in the works for over a month, as personal terms were agreed long ago.

Upon his arrival, Ugarte had a lot to say about what the new Ineos staff is working on. “It is an incredible feeling to join a club of this magnitude; one that is admired all around the world. The project that the football leadership discussed with me is extremely exciting, Manchester United is an ambitious club and I am an ambitious player.”

“I will sacrifice and give everything for my teammates. Together we will fight to win trophies and reach the level where this club needs to be.”

Ugarte brings toughness and a strong mentality to a midfield that needs it. The 23-year-old is a fighter and has a similar profile to United defender Lisandro Martinez. He will be a massive boost to Kobbie Mainoo, who will benefit from an upgraded partner.

Ugarte’s signing completes Manchester United’s summer signing class.

Welcome to Manchester, Manuel Ugarte!
