Former youth captain Rhys Bennett is heading on loan to Fleetwood Town for the 2024/2025 season.

Bennett struggled for playing time last season on loan at Stockport County. He made just one appearance before returning to Old Trafford this summer.

The 20-year-old was one of the younger players that joined Erik Ten Hag’s traveling squad for pre-season. He had invaluable opportunities to face top players, such as when the team faced Liverpool in Colombia. Bennett will hope this experience can serve him well as a regular starter in League Two.

Charlie Adam’s team has started with a win and two draws in the league so far. Bennett is expected to play a crucial role for a team aiming to secure a playoff spot and could start as soon as this weekend.

Other youth players, such as 19-year-old Sonny Aljoforee and 18-year-old Elyh Harrison could also leave on loan to gain experience as the transfer window closes.
