When Al Nassr faces Al Ahli on September 13th, Champions League record goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo can set another career mark. The Portuguese superstar can notch his 900th career goal, an extension of his record, with his next finish. Despite, this incredible feat, the 39-year-old has set his sights even higher.

Speaking to former teammate Rio Ferdinand in a YouTube interview, Ronaldo said, “If I don’t have any injuries, this for me is the most important [thing], I want that. For me, the best mark that I can have in football is to reach, first, 900 goals. After, my challenge is to be at 1,000 goals.”

The international goalscoring king went on to describe what makes his goal records different than those claiming them.

“All the goals I have scored, they have video. They have video. Listen, I respect all of them. And if you want more goals, I can bring them from training, too. And I will prove to to the people after. They prefer this player, or this is the best one. I don’t care about any of that.”

While teammates, Ferdinand and Ronaldo won the Premier League three times, the Champions League once, and the English Supercup once. The success happened, of course, under Ronaldo’s football father-figure Sir Alex Ferguson.

Even after his scathing interview with Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo remains a beloved figure among most fans in Manchester. If the Al Nassr striker reaches 1,000 goals, supporters at Old Trafford can celebrate a former Red being the first, and possibly only, to ever reach that mark with “video” evidence.
