Manchester United has already signed four new players this transfer window and is closing in on a fifth to close out a perfect summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the negotiations for Manuel Ugarte are nearing an end, with the summer window closing in a week.
While a permanent transfer is preferred, Ugarte could join on loan this season with an obligation to buy next summer. He agreed on personal terms almost a month ago.
Manchester United fans are waiting for Ugarte in anticipation, as the 23-year-old is seen as a perfect partner for Kobbie Mainoo in the midfield. Mainoo’s full potential could be unlocked with a quick, physical defensive midfielder who can truly allow him the freedom to play box-to-box.

Manchester United assessed other players in this position, such as Sander Berge, Danilo, André, and Ederson, but Manuel Ugarte was always the main target.
With optimism that the transfer will be completed this week, Ugarte could be available for the trip to Southampton after the international break.
