Manchester United still needs a first-team left-back with ten days to go in the transfer market. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia remain out, leaving Diogo Dalot to play out of position on the left. Erik Ten Hag’s side can’t afford to drop points early due to positional issues if the goal is returning to the Champions League.

According to L’Equipe, Manchester United is one of several Premier League clubs monitoring Adrien Truffert. The 22-year-old has established himself as a solid left-back and was one of France’s best players at the Olympics.

Last season in Ligue 1, Truffert made thirty appearances, scoring one goal and assisting three. The Frenchman was especially good in the Coupe De France, where he created four goals in just five matches.

A fee between €15-€20 million could be enough to sway Rennes into a sale. Liverpool and PSG are two other big clubs interested in the left-back.

While Manchester United signed Noussair Mazraoui this summer as cover for left and right back, the Moroccan is a natural right-back, leaving the club in a similar position as last season with just Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia as natural left-backs. A young, talented outside defender like Truffert could solidify that position and ensure Manchester United avoids last season’s woes.

United has also shown interest in Miguel Gutierrez, Milos Kerkez, and Alphonso Davies this summer.

Would Adrien Truffert be a good signing for Manchester United?
