According to Fabrizio Romano, Facundo Pellistri has agreed to join Greek side Panathinaikos for €6 million.
Uruguay international Facundo Pellistri will leave Old Trafford this summer for a chance at regular first-team action. A €6 million deal has been agreed for the winger to join Panathinaikos on a multi-year contract. The agreement has been ‘here we go’ confirmed by esteemed journalist Fabrizio Romano.
On top of the initial €6 million fee, United has added a sell-on clause to the transfer agreement.
Pellistri arrived at Manchester United in 2020 on a €8.5 million deal from Peñarol in Uruguay. Despite a consistent presence in his national national team, Pellistri only made 13 Premier League appearances.
The 22-year-old spent the past three seasons in Spain with Alaves and Granada. In 48 La Liga appearances, Pellistri scored twice and assisted twice.
With the emergence of Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho and the presence of Antony, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho, Pellistri would likely have had little opportunity this season in Manchester. A move to Greece allows him to find consistent first-team football at the club level.
Good luck, Facundo!
