Five-time Champions League winner Casemiro is now set to stay in Manchester after a rumored deal with Al Ittihad never materialized. The 32-year-old appeared poised to leave, with Saudi Arabia eyeing him as the next big-name signing. However, it’s highly improbable that this will occur during this transfer window.

Erik ten Hag has an abundance of options in the midfield, even as the club hopes to add a partner for Kobbie Mainoo. Casemiro, Scott McTominay, and Christian Eriksen have been rumored to leave at various times this summer, but each currently remains at the club.

Casemiro has had a solid start to the 2024-2025 campaign. The Brazilian midfielder created a couple of great chances against Fulham and was one of the better United players in the Community Shield. His one flaw remains his pace, as he is liable to leave a gap in transition if he is out of position.

Manchester United is still working on deals for Sander Berge and Manuel Ugarte. A bid for Sander Berge has reportedly fallen short of Burnley’s €30 million valuation, and an agreement with PSG for Ugarte has still not been struck. The Argentine midfielder agreed to personal terms with the club weeks ago.

If Casemiro returns to his form from his first year at Old Trafford, he could be a valuable asset in a critical season. The problem is that if United brings in a midfielder ahead of the Brazilian, then the club will be paying a €350,000 salary to a player who only sporadically plays.

Should Manchester United work harder to move Casemiro, or should the club wait until January to assess the midfield?
