Rasmus Hojlund has been given the number nine ahead of the 2024-2025 season. In his first season in Manchester, Hojlund wore number eleven. Now, as the club’s main striker, the Dane has been given the famous number.
Previously worn by Anthony Martial, nine has a storied history at Manchester United. Andy Cole, who scored 121 goals for United, is perhaps the most famous wearer of the shirt. Another top striker to have worn it was Dimitar Berbatov, who won a Golden Boot as a Red.
Rasmus Hojlund scored fifteen goals for United in his first season. Manchester United fans will hope that the 21-year-old can reach the level of his predecessors with his new number.
