Manchester United bounced back after the loss to Rosenborg with a preseason win over Rangers. In a match all about the young players, new signing Leny Yoro had an impressive debut and Amad Diallo impressed with a goal.
Overall, the first half went well for Ten Hag’s side. Leny Yoro and Jonny Evans played well together in the back, and the midfield was solid. Diallo opened the scoring in the 38th minute for the Reds, further cementing his argument to get a run with the first-team when the season begins. It was also a positive to see Mason Mount assist after a difficult first season in red.
Rangers found more success in the second half, as Ten Hag opted for a side of primarily youth team players. Despite taking more pressure, it was the young Reds that found the net. In the 70th minute, Joe Hugill found the back of the net with a ferocious strike to double the lead to two. Academy product Maxi Oyedele assisted the finish with a clean through ball.
Manchester United will now head to the United States to begin the official preseason tour. The Reds face Arsenal at SoFi Stadium on July 27th.
