Marseille have won the race to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood. Pending a medical, Greenwood will join the French side on a £27 million plus add-ons deal.

The move for Greenwood comes after Marseille’s mayor publicly stated he did not want the club to sign forward due to his past. In the end, it seems that Roberto De Zerbi, the new Marseille manager, has won in his pursuit of the player.

After a successful loan spell at Girona, the 22-year-old striker has revitalized his career despite his legal issues. Greenwood scored eight times for Blanquivermell and added six assists in thirty-three appearances.

The possible £30 million fee is a large sum for a player United believed would leave for free. The funds can immediately be reinvested in the squad by the new INEOS leadership group.

With Joshua Zirkzee already in Manchester, the squad overhaul will continue with players such as Matthijs De Ligt, Leny Yoro, Jarrad Branthwaite, Miguel Gutierrez, Xavi Simons, and Manuel Ugarte who are all linked to a move to Old Trafford.

With Mason Greenwood and Donny Van De Beek now gone, who will be the next to leave Old Trafford this summer?
