Spain have already booked their spot in the Euros Final after a win over France. The winner of this second semifinal between England and the Netherlands is sure to be the underdog heading into that matchup.
Both England and the Netherlands have stumbled into this round. The Three Lions required stoppage time to beat Slovakia and squeaked past Switzerland on penalties. The Netherlands only made it to the knock-out stages as a third-place side and beat Turkey on a late own goal.
Projected Lineups
Despite each team’s struggles, they both have game-changers who will certainly factor in the match result.
Gareth Southgate had been keeping the same team outside of the midfield, though now Kobbie Mainoo has locked that final spot. One area to watch will be left-back, as Luke Shaw returned to action in the second half against Switzerland. Marc Guehi should also return to the side after his one-match suspension.
For The Flying Dutchmen, Cody Gakpo has carried the team into this round and will be Ronald Koeman’s first name on the team sheet. It projects to be an unchanged side as the Oranje attempts to keep England out of a second straight Euro Final.
England Projected XI: Jordan Pickford, Luke Shaw, Marc Guehi, John Stones, Kyle Walker, Declan Rice, Kobbie Mainoo, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, Harry Kane
Netherlands Projected XI: Bart Verbruggen, Nathan Aké, Virgil Van Dijk, Stefan De Vrij, Denzel Dumfries, Tijjani Reijnders, Jerdy Schouten, Xavi Simons, Donyell Malen, Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo
Match Prediction
England will win on a late winner from captain Harry Kane. The Bayern Munich striker already has one winner to his name this tournament and will add another here in a tightly contested match. The Three Lions beat the Netherlands 1-0 to advance to the Final.
