England’s midfield had been a question mark heading into the match against Slovakia. Now, after an incredible Kobbie Mainoo performance, it should be nailed down for as long as England last at the Euros.

The 19-year-old Manchester United midfielder completed 100% of his dribbles and 96% of his passing, showcasing how well he keeps the ball when England are in possession.

Mainoo also showed defensive acumen, as he won four of his six duels, won two tackles, and had an interception. The only blemish on his defensive game was his early yellow card for a foul on Ondrej Duda.

Kobbie Mainoo’s well-rounded performance was completed by his two shots and one key pass.

Once Mainoo came off, England went all-out attack and found a late equalizer through an incredible overhead kick by Jude Bellingham. In the first minute of extra-time, captain Harry Kane put England up for good with a header, and England won 2-1.

After a fantastic performance, Gareth Southgate should have Mainoo next to Declan Rice on the team sheet again against Switzerland.
