According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are interested in Ruud Van Nistelrooy for a position on Erik Ten Hag’s staff.
As a player, the Dutch legend scored 150 times in just 219 matches as a Red. He was an English Champion with United and a Spanish champion twice with Real Madrid. Van Nistelrooy was the top scorer in competitions nine different times, which is a testament to his ridiculous ability to find the back of the net.
The move to bring him in makes sense, especially considering the recent departure of Benni McCarthy. Van Nistelrooy would bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the staff and could be a mentor for young striker Rasmus Hojlund. He may also be the right man to bring Marcus Rashford back to form.
With Manchester United likely to bring in Joshua Zirkzee, a Dutch striker, Van Nistelrooy would be able to connect well and lead the next generation of great United strikers.
Burnley is also interested in Van Nistelrooy for their manager position, so it will come down to what the legendary striker wants in his next role. He has experience with the Netherlands, where he was an assistant manager, and with PSV Eindhoven, where he led many different age groups in the past eight years.
Do you believe that Van Nistelrooy would be a good fit for Manchester United?
