According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are expected to meet the release clause for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee. Transfermarkt has Zirkzee’s value upwards of $50 million, but United can get him for as low as $36 million due to his release clause. Ineos could make him the first transfer of the new era.

With only Rasmus Hojlund as a true number nine, Manchester United are in desperate need of another striker option. Joshua Zirkzee managed twelve goals and seven assists in thirty-seven appearances for Bologna last season, which earned him a call-up to the Netherlands for the Euros.

The 23-year-old striker began his career at Feyenoord before earning a transfer to Bayern Munich. He was unable to break through at the Bavarian side and moved to Bologna before the 2022-2023 season. After a breakout season, Zirkzee’s services are in high demand.

Joshua Zirkzee is also being pursued by Arsenal and AC Milan, but recent rumblings are that he prefers Manchester United. If Zirkzee does pick United, he would be choosing Europa League football over the Champions League, which shows the incredible draw of playing for Manchester United at Old Trafford.

What do you think of Manchester United’s pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee?
