After months of speculation, Erik Ten Hag will remain the manager of Manchester United under the new Ineos leadership. Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s new group of leaders have concluded their review of Ten Hag and have elected to keep him through next season and possibly longer.

Manchester United struggled all season and finished 8th in the Premier League. The FA Cup Final, however, saw Erik Ten Hag win his second trophy with the club in two years and showed he has the ability to win in big moments. United will look for more consistency in the league starting next year.

Erik Ten Hag’s possible new contract will see him cede some of his current influences, most notably surrounding transfers. It is no secret that United has struggled with transfers recently, and the new management group wants to reset how the club does business. The recent purchase of Antony screams out as an ill-advised transfer that the club will seek to avoid in the future.

In my opinion, this is a huge win for Manchester United. No manager has truly been given time since Sir Alex Ferguson, and a willingness to let a manager build something may be what United has been missing. Ferguson, after all, struggled in his first few seasons. Erik Ten Hag now will rightly be given a chance to succeed with a more stable support system. Hopefully, the Reds can return to prominence under his leadership.

How do you feel about the news that Ten Hag is staying?
